Miami Dade County Commission District 9 race

The race for Miami-Dade County Commission District 9 comes down to outgoing Florida House of Representatives Minority Leader Kionne McGhee, and Elvis Maldonado, who served on the Homestead City Council.

In the August primary, McGhee secured 37 percent of the vote with Maldonado taking 23 percent. According to Florida Politics, a Sept. 8 poll commissioned by a “democratically aligned” South Florida group, showed McGhee was ahead of Maldonado by roughly the same margin from the primary.

With just about a month left in the 2020 election, this is still a race to the finish line. Election Day is on Nov. 3.
