Duke Energy’s philanthropic arm is investing $734,000 to support workforce development and education programs in Florida.
The Duke Energy Foundation grant will help job seekers and students in underrepresented groups prepare for employment, with an emphasis on the energy sector.
“These grants support vital programs and help develop a diverse workforce needed to strengthen our communities and economies today and in the future,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida president.
The University of Florida and its Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is receiving a $100,000 grant to create the Energy Sustainability, Technology and Resiliency Testing Hub and Certificate Program.
