Today, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced the county’s updated Climate Action Strategy to renew the local government’s efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions 50 percent by 2030 from 2019 levels, with the end goal of net zero by 2050. If met, the milestone would meet Miami-Dade’s recent pledge to be a leading partner in the international Race to Zero.
The announcement comes ahead of Mayor Levine Cava’s participation in the United Nations’ 26th Annual Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland Oct. 31-Nov. 12.
There, she will share Miami’s new Climate Action Strategy with other elected officials throughout the world.
