Jervonte “Tae” Edmonds has won the House District 88 Democratic nomination and will likely succeed Democratic Rep. Omari Hardy in the March 8 Special General Election.
Edmonds topped Clarence “Chief” Williams in Tuesday’s Special Primary. Edmonds defeated Williams 66% to 34%, according to unofficial results.
While Edmonds is heavily favored, he will face a long-shot Republican candidate for the seat, Guarina Torres, March 8. Since Session ends March 11, Edmonds will not be able to vote in the Legislature this year.
HD 88 is now made up of central-north Palm Beach County, but redistricting might change its boundaries in November’s election.
