Deerfield Beach’s planned in-person events for the Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration were canceled Tuesday due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
The city planned a Day of Service on Saturday. A parade, “Keeping the Dream Alive,” was scheduled for Monday along with festivities at the Oveta McKeithen Recreation Complex on Monday.
The city is working to prepare a virtual video commemoration of Dr. King’s life and legacy that will appear on its Facebook page, city officials said.
A special tribute to Dr. King’s life and legacy is being planned for the annual Black Heritage Banquet, currently scheduled for Feb. 26.
