The University of Miami women’s basketball team scored a 46-45 upset of No. 15-ranked Georgia Tech. It was UM’s first win over a Top 25 opponent since 2019.
Freshman guard J a’Leah Williams, who attended Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, scored the winning basket with 1:21 left. She posted up nine points, six rebounds and four steals.
The Hurricanes trailed by as many as nine points late in the third quarter, but held Georgia Tech to four points and forced seven turnovers in the final 10 minutes.
The team improved to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
