Despite the documented “COVID-19 slide“ that decreased student test performance, the class of 2021 had the highest rate of high school graduation in 17 years.
This was the second year that students were not required to pass a standardized assessment because of the pandemic emergency. Still, it’s part of an overall uptick the state has seen: Graduation rates have increased more than 30% since the Class of 2004 statewide.
Overall, 90% of Florida’s high school seniors picked up a diploma last year. In Broward County, the graduation rate hit 89%. Miami-Dade saw 90% graduate and Palm Beach County had 91% graduate.
