Flood control structures at forefront of new legislation

Florida leaders to stay updated annually about condition of Florida's critical flood control structures, according to new bill

by carlislewillard

An effort to put the condition of Florida’s flood control structures front and center in front of the state’s key officials sailed through committees in the House and Senate.

Democratic Rep. Robin Bartleman and Republican Rep. Demi Busatta Cabrera together filed legislation (HB 513) that would mean the Governor, Senate president and Speaker of the House read about the condition of the flood control structures annually.

The legislation, which has a companion that Republican Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez of Doral filed, would also send a report to the Office of Economic and Demographic Research and the Department of Environmental Protection.
