The Florida Sheriffs Association named Rebeca Sanchez of the Miami-Dade Police Department the 2022 Dispatcher of the Year, citing her clear-headed handling of an incident that wounded two police officers and involved a car crashing in front of a Miami-Dade police station.
Sanchez’s professionalism, dedication to duty, teamwork and effort has earned her 23 letters of commendation in her eight-year career.
The award particularly cited her calm demeanor and multifaceted response to an Oct. 22 incident that started with shots fired. The evolving situation required that she direct the set-up of a perimeter, summon medical assistance and get traffic blocked.
