South Florida’s Winner & Loser of the Week

Winner: Daryl Campbell. After winning a Jan. 11 Special Primary Election in House District 94, Campbell faced no General Election opposition. Still, reports conflicted over whether the state would allow him to be seated this Session. In the end, Campbell got his seat. And his constituents now have a voice during an impactful Session.

Loser: Miami City Commission. The Commission put on a master class of ineptitude when considering a measure to ban additional gaming facilities. The meeting started 80 minutes late before being canceled. The reason? Commissioners Alex Diaz de la Portilla and Manolo Reyes no-showed, denying a quorum.
