Palm Beach County Commissioner slams Boynton Beach mayoral candidate’s LGBTQ comments

by Margaret Willard

Palm Beach County Commissioner Robert Weinroth lives in Boca Raton but is weighing in on the anti-gay remarks Boynton Beach mayoral candidate Bernard Wright made about one of the other three mayoral candidates.

Wright in a 40-minute, Jan. 26 Facebook Live post last week, said that mayoral candidate and City Commissioner Ty Penserga aims to make Boynton Beach “a gay city,” along with other anti-transgender remarks.

Those comments, “could only be deemed bigoted, ignorant and disgusting,” Weinroth wrote, in a mini-editorial in Sunday’s Sun Sentinel.

Penserga is one of the few openly gay, elected public officials in Palm Beach County.
