Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra will coach Team Durant in the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 20 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
Sunday was the cutoff date to determine which person would coach in that game. After the Chicago Bulls lost to Philadelphia by 119-108, that gave the Heat a 34-20 record and a half-game lead in the Eastern Conference.
This will be Spoelstra’s second time to coach the all-stars. In 2013, his East Conference team in lost to the Western Conference 143-138.
He also will be the first Heat coach to coach in multiple all-star games.
