Starting this month, Broward County’s undocumented immigrants, the homeless and others who don’t have government-issued identification can get identification through Legal Aid Service of Broward County.
The Miami-Dade County Commission recently voted to make the same thing available in that county. Meanwhile, Palm Beach County has been offering the same program since 2019.
The IDs don’t confer citizenship, voting rights or driving privileges. Instead these IDs are designed to help people access services such as COVID-19 vaccines, library cards and access to shelters in the event of an emergency.
The ID card includes a photo, date of birth and an address.
