Palm Beach County Commission bid gets some high-powered help

Palm Beach County’s Democratic U.S. Reps. Ted Deutch and Lois Frankel have declared themselves part of “Team Michelle” – endorsing Michelle Oyola McGovern as she seeks a seat on the County Commission.

McGovern, a veteran of former U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson’s office, is facing two Democrats and one Republican in her bid to represent District 6, replacing term-limited Commissioner Melissa McKinlay. Her toughest competitor is Rep. Matt Willhite, who is just a hair ahead of her in the fundraising race.

She also faces Democrat Sylvia L. Sharps, a former Commission candidate, and Republican Sara Baxter, a real estate agent.
