South Florida’s Winner & Loser of the Week

Winner: Shevrin Jones. Florida Democrats are scrambling now that Republicans lead in active voter registrations. While Democrats look to find a fix, Sen. Jones is launching a new initiative called Operation BlackOut to drive vote-by-mail registration in minority communities. Credit to Jones for stepping forward and offering a plan.

Loser: C.J. Giménez. The lawyer and son of U.S. Rep. Carlos Giménez was arrested last week and accused of striking Miami Commissioner Alex Diaz de la Portilla at a steakhouse. While the legal process will continue, it’s never a good look if you end up at a booking center.
