Marco Giron to head Miami-Dade County’s Office of Film and Entertainment

by Margaret Willard

After drawing multimillion dollar Warner Brothers and Apple TV+ productions to Doral, Macro Giron will lead the Miami-Dade County’s Film and Entertainment Office.

Giron was Doral’s senior communications official when the 10-episode series “Bad Monkey,” starring Vince Vaughn made Doral its headquarters. The series, based on the Carl Hiaasen novel, will be filming this year. He worked there for more than seven years.

Giron replaces Sandy Lighterman, who created Miami-Dade’s entertainment production incentive program, FilMiami. She left Miami for the same role in Broward County. FilMiami offers $100,000 incentives for every $1 million production companies spend on using Miami scenes.
