Despite censure, Palm Beach Republicans will campaign for Mike Caruso

As censures go, this is a mild one.

The Palm Beach County Republican Party didn’t directly tell Republican Rep. Mike Caruso he was officially censured by party vote earlier this month; he heard unofficially. It happened, he believes, because he endorsed Democrat Katherine Waldron in her primary race for a House seat.

Republican Committee Chair Mike Barnett confirmed the reason, but said he intends to campaign for Caruso. Caruso’s a rare species, after all – just one of two Republican lawmakers representing districts located entirely within the county.

Still, Caruso’s not changing: “When all is said and done, I’m a Republican.”
