South Florida pols test positive for COVID

Joining a long line of politicians, the Senate Democratic Leader and the Mayor of Miami-Dade County announced on the same day they have tested positive for COVID-19.

For Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, it’s the second time it’s happened since the pandemic began nearly two years ago. Democratic Sen. Lauren Book of Plantation said she tested after experiencing mild symptoms, which Levine Cava said she experienced also.

Both politicians used the occasion to stress that they were vaccinated and boosted against the virus – which most doctors agree is crucial to avoiding the worst effects of COVID-19 when breakthrough infections do occur.
