Sepp Straka makes history at Honda Classic

by Margaret Willard

Sepp Straka didn’t let a 5-shot deficit or a driving rain stop him as he rallied in the final round to win the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens.

Straka shot a final-round 66 and birdied the last hole to complete the comeback, besting runner-up Shane Lowry by a single shot. Straka also became the first Austrian winner in PGA Tour history.

He earned $1.44 million with the victory, along with an automatic invitation to The Masters in April.

“It’s crazy. It’s a lifelong dream of mine just to be heading to Augusta in a month or so,” Straka said.
