Democratic U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson raised almost $55,000 in the fourth quarter of 2021 to defend Florida’s 24th Congressional District.
Her sole Republican opponent, Lavern Spicer, raised just $1,000 less than that, but healthy spending through Dec. 31 left her a comparatively tiny war chest.
Spicer and Democratic challenger Christine Olivo, who both challenged Wilson in 2020, together held less than 1% of the $495,000 Wilson had New Year’s Day.
That should prove more than enough to hold onto what experts consider a fairly safe seat she’s held for six consecutive terms, most recently winning re-election by 75.6% support.
