Hallandale Beach hit with a $4.4 million jury award in fired City Manager suit

by carlislewillard

Hallandale Beach officials are vowing to appeal a recent $4.4 million judgement against the city for wrongfully terminating its City Manager in 2016, city officials told the Sun Sentinel.

Daniel Rosemond, who the city employed just short of a year, was fired without severance on a 3-2 City Commission vote for using a city credit card for buying an airline ticket for his daughter and awarding a contract that exceeded his limit, the paper reported.

To pay off the jury award, the city would have to take the money out of its reserve fund, because Hallandale Beach is self-insured.
