Winner: Annette Taddeo. She earned a new batch of School Board endorsements in her bid for Governor. But Taddeo also earned a big win in the GOP-led Legislature. Republicans adopted language suggested by Taddeo to amend an elections bill, adding fines for groups whose workers swap a person’s party registration against their will. That reportedly happened last cycle to several Taddeo constituents.
Loser: Anti-sugar lawsuit. A lawsuit alleging Glades residents are being harmed by controlled sugarcane burns is dead. Plaintiffs agreed to dismiss the suit with prejudice on Friday after failing to produce enough evidence to justify the suit’s claims.
