Ted Deutch’s decision to become 31st retiring Congressional Democrat sets off SoFla scramble

by Margaret Willard

There’s been no shortage of names floated for succeeding Rep. Ted Deutch since he rocked South Florida’s political world with the announcement he was stepping down after seven terms representing Florida’s 22 Congressional District that includes parts of Broward and Palm Beach.

Appointed Broward County Commissioner Jared Moskowitz said he will announce a decision on running in the days to come, with the Sun Sentinel’s Anthony Mann calling it “all but certain.”

State Rep. Chip LaMarca said he’ll decide at the end of Session, next week. And Sen. Gary Farmer is saying he’ll decide once the redistricting maps are settled.
