Fort Lauderdale’s City Auditor John Herbst has been dismissed and so has the city’s top cop, former Police Chief Larry Scirotto.
Herbst’s contract, however, means working 60 days after his dismissal and he’s making the most of it: He wrote a memo saying that Scirotto might have committed criminal violations and he plans to send a forensic audit to the State Attorney’s Office Public Corruption Unit, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Broward County Inspector General, the Sun Sentinel is reporting.
Herbst’s investigation revolves around Scirotto’s side gig as an NCAA basketball referee while on the city’s dime.
