UM men’s basketball coach Jim Larranaga entered the season on the hot seat after the Hurricanes 39-51 overall and 16-41 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
But the ‘Canes performance this season not only took him off that toasty seat, it earned him a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the Hurricanes through the 2025-26 season.
Miami is 23-10 overall and finished 14-6 in the ACC. The ‘Canes advanced to the NCAA Tournament and will play there Friday against Southern Cal.
Larranaga is in his 11th season at Miami, and this is his fifth trip to the NCAAs.
