Big draw events are pumping up income for Airbnb hosts in Miami, the company is reporting as Miami prepares for the onslaught of spectators to the Miami Open, a tennis tournament starting this weekend, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
During the tournament in 2019, Airbnb hosts in Miami earned more than $7 million, local hosts earned more than $7 million. In 2021, Airbnb hosts in Miami earned a total of nearly $200 million.
This year might be even bigger: Searches for Miami stays during the tournament increased increased by more than 200 percent between December and January.
