Speaker of the House visits Delray Beach highlighting fed funds for broken bridge

by Margaret Willard

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi lent some star power to a broken drawbridge in Delray Beach, according to the Sun Sentinel.

The George Bush bridge has been broken for two weeks and will stay stuck upright for six more weeks. Pelosi came to highlight what some $19 billion  in President Joe Biden’s infrastructure act will mean for Florida’s roads and bridges.

“Pretty soon people will have a direct route and not have to go miles around,” Pelosi said.

U.S. Reps. Lois Frankel, Frederica Wilson and Sheila Cherfilus-MCormick, all representing South Florida congressional districts, flanked Pelosi during Saturday’s proceedings.
