The successor to the retiring president and CEO of Memorial Healthcare System could be another high-powered Florida hospital executive.

Edward Jimenez, now the CEO of University of Florida Health Shands, is one of four finalists in the running to succeed Aurelio M. Fernandez III. Fernandez, has led the public hospital system based in Hollywood for the past six years and will be retiring April 30, fulfilling his contract struck in 2016.

Jimenez, meanwhile, has been leading Shands since 2014.

Other finalists the South Broward Hospital District Board will be talking to are all from out of state: Missouri, Tennessee and Louisiana.
