Juan Carlos Porras, a lifelong Republican and former staffer for several notable GOP elected officials, has entered an increasingly crowded race to determine who will represent House District 119.
A former president of the FIU College Republicans, Porras most recently worked as a legislative aide for Hialeah Rep. Alex Rizo. He’s also a small business owner, according to a campaign press note, and has held roles under Reps. Juan Fernandez-Barquin, Spencer Roach and U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott.
So far, three other candidates – all Republican – have filed in HD 119: hotelier Ricky Tsay, Roberto Gonzalez and Jose Soto.
