The lone lawmaker who voted for new abortion ban gets called out

Ruth’s List Florida, an organization dedicated to electing Democratic women candidates who support abortion rights, is bolstering political newcomer Ashley Gantt’s House campaign in Miami-Dade County’s House District 109 with more than just its money and clout.

The organization has some words for the incumbent, Rep. James Bush III, now seeking a third term.

“Not only does Bush have a troubling career of putting special interests ahead of the community, he was the only Democrat in the entire Legislature to vote in favor (the law that) bans abortion after 15 weeks with no exceptions for rape or incest,” it said.
