Vance Aloupis to resign from Legislature, endorses former chief of staff as successor

by carlislewillard

After two House terms, Miami Rep. Vance Aloupis is stepping away to spend more time with his family, and he’s already endorsed a replacement.

Aloupis named his former Chief of Staff Alexis Calatayud as his preferred successor. Calatayud is a lifelong member of the GOP and the current director of policy and programs at the Florida Department of Education – a role that complements Aloupis’ focus on early learning.

“She knows this district – and this district knows her,” Aloupis said. “Alexis will have my full support, and I know she’ll be a tremendous champion for our community and Florida’s education system.”
