After opening the season with a five-game west coast road trip, the Marlins return to Miami on Thursday for the home-opener against Philadelphia.
Miami lost the finale of the opening three-game series at San Francisco 3-2 after splitting the first two games. There was a familiar problem for the Marlins, who went 2-for-22 during that series with runners in scoring position.
Still, all three games were decided by one run against a team that won 107 games last season.
“We went head to head with them and felt like we could have taken all three,” first baseman Garrett Cooper said.
