Winner: Ketanji Brown Jackson. It’s hard to top earning a lifetime appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. The confirmation of Jackson — who was born in Washington but grew up in Miami-Dade — makes her the first Black woman to serve on the court and the first ever Justice from Florida.
Loser: Anika Omphroy. Omphroy, a Broward County representative, hasn’t filed a campaign finance report since November despite state law requiring those reports monthly. She’s now facing the threat of fines for the delay. Asked about the failures to file, Omphory said, “I’m behind on my filings,” and declined to comment further.
