Lauren Book makes high-powered hires amid Primary challenge

Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book announced several key staffing moves as she seeks re-election amid a Primary challenge from former Broward Commissioner Barbara Sharief.

Atop the list is Democratic consultant Christian Ulvert, who takes over as general consultant. Ulvert’s clients have included President Joe Biden, Sen. Annette Taddeo and Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

Nicholas Hessing, a former legislative aide to Rep. Robin Bartleman, will manage Book’s campaign.

Book also hired advisers Steve Vancore, Eric Johnson and Stephanie BromfieldClaire VanSusteren, a longtime collaborator, will be communications adviser.  MDW CommunicationsMichael Worley will work on Book’s digital and direct mailers.
