by carlislewillard

Republican Rep. Chip LaMarca of Lighthouse Point has decided not to pursue the congressional seat that Rep. Ted Deutch of Boca Raton is vacating.

LaMarca, will instead go for a third term as a state Representative. He was one of a number of names floated as a successor to represent the district that straddles Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Broward County Commissioner Jared Moskowitz first jumped into a bid for the Democratic nomination for the seat, followed by Fort Lauderdale Vice Mayor Ben Sorensen and political newcomer Curtis Calabrese.

Republicans Steven ChessJim Pruden and  Darlene Swaffer are running also.
