Heat turn it on in 2nd half to defeat Philadelphia

by Margaret Willard

It took a little while to get going but the Heat finally pulled away from the depleted Philadelphia 76ers Monday night to win the opening game in their Eastern Conference semifinal 106-92.

Miami trailed the Sixers, who played without superstar center Joel Embiid, by one point at the half. However, the Heat outscored Philly by 15 in the second half to salt away the victory.

“We’re working with a small margin for error,” Sixers Coach Doc Rivers said, “so we can’t give a team 13 extra shots on the road without Joel and think we’re going to win a game
