Miami Republican Sen. Ileana García has again attracted negative attention for her controversial comments.
This time, it’s for saying Florida’s new law banning abortion after 15 weeks with no exception for rape actually helps human trafficking victims who get pregnant because their captors won’t want to sell them for sex.
“Human traffickers, as long as their commodity, which is the girls or the women, are not pregnant, they continue to use them,” she said in a CBS News Miami video. “When the girl or woman is pregnant and they can’t make her get an abortion … they don’t use her anymore.”
