Winner: Manny Diaz Jr. The Republican Senator from Hialeah was appointed to become the state’s new Education Commissioner, presenting the staunch school choice advocate an opportunity to put his imprint on the state’s education system like never before. With national headlines swirling around the education system, it will afford him quite a platform.

Loser: Ileana Garcia. The Miami Republican Senator’s added another “open mouth, insert foot” moment to her resume as she asserted that a sex-trafficking victim shouldn’t have access to abortion because pregnancy keeps her from being “used.” Because bearing a child while being sex-trafficked doesn’t present more problems?
