The Panthers dominated the Washington Capitals 5-1 Thursday to even their opening-round playoff series at a game apiece.
The series shifts to Washington on Saturday.
Florida quickly shook off its shocking third-period collapse in Game 1, scoring twice in the first period. The Caps got a goal back early in the second, but the Panthers answered less than 30 seconds later.
They added two goals before the second intermission, and Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky stepped up and stopped 26 of 27 shots.
“[Stuff] happens,” Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin said. “Move on, 1-1. … It is a good scenario for us.”
