Panthers battle back late to get vital win

by Margaret Willard

The Panthers were against the ropes, down by a goal to the Capitals with barely more than two minutes left.

However, Florida’s Sam Reinhart directed a shot off the right post to tie the score. That sent the game into overtime, where Carter Verhaeghe scored the winning goal to give the Panthers a vital 3-2 win.

It knotted the series at two games apiece as the teams return to Sunrise for Game 5 on Wednesday.

“This was the best game we’ve played this series,” Florida’s Aleksander Barkov said. “We found a way to play our game, and we get rewarded.”
