Ending two years of minimal sign-ups due to COVID-19’s effect on the schools, Broward County has more than 6,000 new voters resulting from the Supervisor of Elections’ annual High School Voter Registration Drive.
The elections office staff visited 38 high schools throughout April to educate students about voting and either register or pre-register those between the ages of 16 and 18,
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School registered the most among the students its size, registering or pre-registering 615 students. St. Thomas Aquinas High School has 500 newly minted voters and Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale has 192 of them.
