New challenge pits Democrat v. Democrat in Broward County again

by carlislewillard

A second Democratic Primary pitting an incumbent Senator against a challenger has cropped up in Broward County.

Rep. Patricia Hawkins-Williams of Pompano Beach has filed to represent Senate District 32 – challenging Sen Rosalind Osgood, who was elected only earlier this year.

Redistricting put the three-term Representative in a district unlike her traditional Pompano Beach district: Boca Raton, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs and Margate.

Meanwhile, Osgood’s district, SD 33, was renumbered 32 and its boundaries shifted south to include the home of Democratic Senate Leader Lauren Book. Book moved to Senate District 35 where she now faces a Primary challenger.
