St. Thomas Aquinas won the 3A boys state track championship when it rallied in the final event to top Dillard 62-61.
A strong anchor leg by King Mack in the 4×400-meter relay gave Aquinas the win in that event and enough points to deny Dillard.
“This is a great feeling because we were expected to come in third at state,” Mack told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “We came in as an underdog and finishing it off as a champion and bringing it back to St. Thomas was the most we could do for everything the families and supporters do for us.”
