Ken Russell targets sea polluters, catches another viral TikTok wave

by carlislewillard

Miami City Commissioner Ken Russell hit social media virality in January, when he introduced himself on TikTok and pondered harnessing the app to win his bid for Florida’s 27th Congressional District.

Well, he’s done it again, this time with two videos that have received more than 23 million views in less than two weeks. Both center on sea pollution. In one, Russell shared a clip of since-arrested people popping and tossing balloons into Biscayne Bay.

The other focuses on a man casually tossing beer cans into the ocean from a moving boat.

Russell later confronted the man over video chat.
