Work on a reservoir project that will be the “linchpin” of the federal Everglades restoration project is set to get underway this summer, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s office announced Tuesday.
Restoring the area vital for supplying 8 million Floridians with drinking water has received an infusion of federal money beginning in 2021 with nearly $2 billion announced for the effort.
The Army Corps is expected to begin advertising for construction contracts that will build a reservoir to keep harmful water runoff out of the environmentally sensitive areas.
“It’s just one part of Biden’s awesome level of support,” Wasserman Schultz said.
