One more loss to Boston and the Heat’s season is over

by Margaret Willard

The Heat let a halftime lead slip away Wednesday and wound up losing 93-80 to Boston in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference final series.

That puts Miami in desperation mode if it wants to keep its NBA championship hopes alive. One more loss and the Heat’s season is over.

Miami led by five at halftime, but Boston brought ferocious defensive pressure in the third quarter, outscoring the Heat 32-16. The Celtics pushed their lead to 23 points early in the fourth quarter and coasted home.

Jimmy Butler, the Heat’s offensive catalyst, hit only 4-of-18 shots, finishing with 13 points.
