UM gets 6th overall seed in NCAA baseball tournament

by

The University of Miami baseball team got some great news.

After learning they would host the four-team opening round, the Hurricanes grabbed the No. 6 overall seed in the 64-team NCAA Tournament. That means they will also host the super regional if they survive the first weekend.

UM opens play Friday against Canisus (29-23).  Arizona (37-23) and Ole Miss (32-22) round out the field.

The weekend is double-elimination.

Miami was justifiably nervous after losing six of its final eight games, including a 16-3 clubbing by Wake Forest that eliminated the Canes from the ACC Tournament.

The Hurricanes are 39-18 overall.
