Maddie’s Fund awarded Broward County’s Animal Care Division one of 10 grants worth $5,000 as part of the foundation’s Open Arms Challenge.
Maddy’s Fund challenged rescue groups and shelters nationwide to eliminate barriers to pet ownership. The county’s Animal Care Division got the nod over nearly 200 applicants for its efforts to reach out and impact diverse communities – recruiting bilingual volunteers, keeping animals in their homes with free dog houses and other measures to encourage ownership.
Maddy’s Fund is a California-based nonprofit that has awarded $255 million to save pets’ lives across the U.S. since it was established in 1994.
