Three Democrats and one Republican are competing to succeed term-limited Melissa McKinlay on the Palm Beach County Commission. But it’s the contest between Democrats Rep. Matthew Willhite and Michelle Oyola McGovern that’s filled with twists and turns.
Willhite, a county firefighter, is leaving the Legislature before facing term limits to run for the Commission. He and McGovern, in her first race for public office, have been neck and neck in fundraising.
Oyola McGovern, a staffer with former Sen. Bill Nelson has racked up interesting endorsements, including that of Willhites’s former colleague on the Wellington Village Commission, former Mayor Bob Margolis.
