Democratic Miami Commissioner Ken Russell’s congressional bid now has support from the southeastern-most chapter of America’s largest hospitality union. Unite Here Local 355, which represents nearly 7,000 hospitality workers across South Florida, is backing Russell’s campaign against Republican U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar.
Local 355 Political Director Mike Hill called Russell “a champion for hospitality workers, making sure they are paid living wages and treated with the dignity they deserve.”
It’s Russell’s fifth union endorsement this year. Others include the Teamsters, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, International Association of Firefighters and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
